The Devil Is In The
Details:
One of the more interesting things happening in news of
late is in the nature of the reporting on the Obama Presidential Job Rating.
A Gallup job approval rating of 67%
(rolling three day average) from February 24-26 would seem to indicate
increasing approval in the period after the proto-State-of-the-State Speech
given to the nation.
On the other hand, Karl Rove notes that
approval numbers in the 61-63% range are pretty much average for this same
time period for a number of previous presidents.
But oddly enough, one factoid missing in
the coverage has to do with the nature of the sample.
The Gallup poll noted above has a sample
size of 1,551 national adults above the age of 18. Not a registered voters
poll, nor even a likely voters poll, said poll groupings in the past have
been noted by some to tend to overstate support to the more liberal end of
the political spectrum.
By way of comparison, Obama won the
presidential election (the most exact poll there can be in our system) with
53%-46% over John McCain. And while it's possible that what Obama has done
since last November has increased his public perception (Wall Street may
have other opinions), the public needs to keep track of the differences in
polling samples so as to not be "hoodwinked" as to what is going on.
It seems that the
British Press has been told, after discovering that Obama is not as capable
of dealing with foreign leaders such as Prime Minister Gordon Brown as
hinted during the 2008 Campaign, that the reason for the
recent gaffes had to do with Obama's exhaustion over dealing with the
domestic economy.
Now, Obama
spent millions promoting himself as capable of handling the "heat of the
kitchen" required by the job of President (along with walking on water,
getting lions to lay down with lambs, and somehow feed multitudes with 7
loaves, 7 fishes, and having Barney Frank in his hip pocket).
But what
seems to be becoming visible to the nation's food critics is the potential
for Obama to become one of the most expensive flops to ever come out of
"Hell's Kitchen".
Facts need to be
faced. Things at this level cannot be dressed up with confectioner's sugar
or lighting that enhances presentation. Not only is Obama flubbing the
economy to the point that those on Wall Street are going through massive
buyer's remorse, he has also hired a "Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight" when it comes
to foreign policy, economics, and environmental policy. There have not been
this many ruined soufflés since Jimmy Carter slammed the door on wealth back
during the run-up to RCRA.
The problem is, can we
truly afford to wait for whatever is coming out of The Crock Pot this time? Stay tuned.
