While one would normally be inclined to refer to a wise old adage discussing
the characteristics of pots and kettles, perhaps it would be better this
time around to just stick with a plain old "vanilla" discussion of a recent
news story...
Throwing Stones In A Glass House Update:
Samuel Goldsmith and Jeane MacIntosh are reporting over at the New York Post
about the recent revelation that former Barack Obama spiritual mentor Rev.
Jeremiah Wright has had an illicit extramarital affair with a 37 year-old
married church worker in Dallas.
Elizabeth Payne has apparently admitted to the liaison, one which has
apparently cost her a secretarial job working for a Rev. Wright protégé,
membership in her church, and her marriage of 2 years. (Ms. Payne has
apparently filed an EEOC complaint for wrongful dismissal in an attempt to
get her job back.).
Goldsmith and MacIntosh report that this may be the second time that
Reverend Wright has gone a'poaching another man's wife. It seems that Wright
may have enticed away his second (and apparently soon to be "ex") wife Ramah
in a similar manner some 20 or so years ago.
The Post does not report trying to get a comment from Rev. Wright or his
spokespersons, though he apparently sermonized recently on the subject of
"unexpected" problems that come up in life.
Whether the illicit affair was in the backround of the ritual "throwing
under the bus" that Candidate Obama performed on Reverend Wright a while
back is not known at this time. But suffice it to say that Candidate Obama
seems to have "hung" with a strange posse throughout his political career.
That this lack of discrimination might influence how voters decide about
Candidate Obama's qualifications remains to be seen. Stay tuned.
While one would think that California's Loony Liberals appear to
have the upper hand in the current budget debacle in the Fool's Golden State
( No budget in sight), a recent "reversal" by Candidate Obama might call
into question the very foundation of their position.
Riddle Me
This, Oh Government Liberals-
If the economy is "too fragile", enough that Obama has to pay "lip
service" to the idea of deferring some of the tax increases, then what makes
you think that California (with it's higher than the national rate of
unemployment) can afford to raise taxes in the current budget standoff?
The folks over at Real Clear Politics have posted the
latest numbers on the effects of the Republican Convention and the Palin
Nomination on the standings between the McCain/Palin ticket and the Obama/Biden
ticket.
If anything, the latest trends (if they hold) may soon have Team Obama
screaming "For The Love of God, Montressor!" as their fate is sealed behind
the brick and mortar of the common sense of American Voter. Real Clear has
McCain's RCP National Average up to a 2.8% lead over Obama, and in states
such as Colorado Obama's lead is being thinned daily.
Even the Intrade "betting" on the likely victor in November has closed to
6.4% spread, down from the previous high range of 2/3rd's to 1/3rd from just
a couple of short weeks ago.
Add to this bi-coastal horror script the problem that Obama's fund raising
seems to be slowing a tad (the Grey Lady herself is noting that no degree of
flagellation is allowing Team Obama to make it's closing financial targets,
and that they may be as off as 50% from their own target levels), and it
would seem that Liberals are facing the remake of "The Horror of 2004".
Still, 7 or so weeks is an eternity in politics. Team Obama may yet be able
to claw it's way out from underneath the swinging blade of public opinion
and win the day (or at least not be sliced up much like one of Biden's
embryonic stem cell donors). But it is clear that McCain's nomination of a
political Cujo for VP, rather than the expected one of a "Benji", has left
them in their cups and lying in the gutter for now. Let us see how the story
may end.
It is clear that the above video could have happened again in Hurricane
Season 2008, if there was no NRA representing gun owners and hunters in a
number of affected states. What is more, should antigun liberals such as Joe
Biden get in higher positions of power than his current position as
Blowhard-in-Chief of the US Senate, such scenes may once again become
reality.
Discerning gun owners-cum-voters are encouraged to "think" (Not "thimk")
before they vote this November. A Vice President Biden would be only a
cigarette puff or a contaminated tofu serving away from being in a position
to adversely affect the individual right for generations to come.
