WHO: Los Angeles City Council

WHAT: Proposal to ban so-called "Ultra-Compact Handguns" (UCH)

ITEM NO. (13) - Motion Required 99-1580 COMMUNICATION FROM THE CITY ATTORNEY and ORDINANCE FIRST CONSIDERATION relative to prohibiting the sale of ultracompact firearms and accessories used to enable the concealment of ultracompact firearms, and to require the maintenance of records pertaining to exempted sales.

WHEN: March 21, 2001. 10:00 A.M.

WHERE: City Hall, 200 N. Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

WHY: This proposed ordinance is being promoted primarily by Councilmember and City Attorney candidate Michael Feuer, who has timed these ordinances to coincide with his election campaign, and who has announced his intention to get ordinances passed in as many cities as possible, and then passed at the state level. If it passes in California, it could soon spread across the country.

Also, LA City Council Public Safety Committee member Nick Pacheco went public stating, "...I want to go on record stating I support a ban on the possession of hand-held firearms by civilians..."
